Even though it's not opening until June 30, tickets for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse are going on sale this Thursday at midnight. (Beat the rush!) The ploy is to take advantage of the May 13 airing of Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner’s visit with Oprah Winfrey, and to copy the six-weeks-before-opening strategy that Warner Bros. is undertaking for the May 27 opening of Sex and the City 2.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fandango and MovieTickets both will start offering advance ticketing of the R-Pattz, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner fangfest nationwide, while websites operated by major theater chains will link to the two online ticketers.
Why all the hubbub, bub? Well, Fandango recently surveyed 14,000 moviegoers to name the summer film they were most looking forward to, and 36% picked Eclipse. The remainder said, "Anything not starring Jennifer Lopez."
Meanwhile, as I first reported, the next sequel, Breaking Dawn, may be without the services of Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene. Just in case that makes any difference.
